Vision Eye Institute has partnered with Eye Surgeons SA (ESSA), an ophthalmic practice founded by Dr Paul Athanasiov, one of the original surgeons at Windsor Gardens Day Surgery in Adelaide.
Vision Eye Institute is one of the largest private providers of specialist eye care in Australia. Its network consists of 19 eye clinics servicing New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia and Victoria, and 10 day surgeries under the Vision Hospital Group banner.
By joining forces with ESSA, Vision Eye Institute has added two new clinics (North Adelaide and Windsor Gardens) and three other consulting locations to its network.

ESSA clinics are fully equipped for ophthalmic consultations, diagnostic testing and minor procedures. Surgery is performed at accredited facilities associated with each consulting location, including Windsor Gardens Day Surgery. The new Windsor Gardens clinic is co-located with the day surgery, ensuring continuity of care for patients undergoing surgical procedures.
Dr Paul Athanasiov is an experienced ophthalmologist and the Principal Ophthalmologist at ESSA. His main areas of expertise are cataract and lens surgery, pterygium, glaucoma and corneal transplantation. He also diagnoses and treats other eye conditions, including macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease and keratoconus.
