Boroondara Day Surgery is located in Hawthorn, close to cafes, parks and the Yarra River, with ample street parking.
DO NOT DRIVE YOURSELF TO YOUR APPOINTMENT. Please arrange for a responsible person to accompany you home after your surgery. Certain types of anaesthesia may cause drowsiness and impair your mental alertness. You will not be allowed to drive home following your procedure.
Public transport options include tram stops for routes 48 (7-minute walk), 75 (15-minute walk) and 109 (15-minute walk). Patients cannot use public transport to get home following their procedure.
Our facility is on the ground level, with access for people with limited mobility and wheelchairs.

Our centre is designed to ensure patient comfort at all times. From the quiet and comfortable waiting areas to the large recovery area, all spaces are designed with our patients in mind.
While there is no parking on-site at Boroondara Day Surgery, there is ample parking available on the surrounding streets.

A staff member will call to confirm your admission time, expected length of stay (usually 2–3 hours), fasting instructions, transport and parking details for Hawthorn, and any out-of-pocket costs. They’ll also review allergies, recent illnesses, and current medications.
On the day of your surgery please bring:
Wear loose clothing, no jewellery, avoid having nail polish on your hands if possible, and arrive showered. If you’re having eye surgery, wash your face for 3 minutes and skip make-up.
On arrival in Hawthorn, our admission team will help you complete any outstanding paperwork and financial consents. Nursing staff will then begin clinical admission and let your carer know when you’ll be ready for pick-up.
In our recovery room, a nurse monitors you until you’re fully alert and offers light refreshments. You’ll receive written post-operative care instructions and any prescriptions. Arrange a responsible adult to stay overnight and drive you home—patients cannot drive for 24 hours post-surgery.
