    On the day of your surgery please bring:

    Wear loose clothing, no jewellery, avoid having nail polish on your hands if possible, and arrive showered. If you’re having eye surgery, wash your face for 3 minutes and skip make-up.

    On arrival in Hawthorn, our admission team will help you complete any outstanding paperwork and financial consents. Nursing staff will then begin clinical admission and let your carer know when you’ll be ready for pick-up.

  • What can I expect after discharge?

    In our recovery room, a nurse monitors you until you’re fully alert and offers light refreshments. You’ll receive written post-operative care instructions and any prescriptions. Arrange a responsible adult to stay overnight and drive you home—patients cannot drive for 24 hours post-surgery.
